Double-crested Cormorants, also known as “sea crows” spend a substantial portion of each day spreading their wings to dry out their feathers in the sun…

Another common sight is the Brown Pelican basking in the sunlight to dry wet feathers…


A wonderful bird is the pelican
His bill will hold more than his belican.
He can take in his beak
Food enough for a week,
But I’m damned if I see how the helican.
